Biology Lab

Biology lab is a hands-on learning space with equipment like microscopes, models (skeletons, organs), charts, preserved specimens, and apparatus for experiments in genetics, microbiology, and physiology, focusing on life sciences exploration through practical activities like slide preparation, chromatography, and dissections, all while ensuring safety with protective gear and proper disposal.

Key Components & Features:

  • Equipment: Microscopes (simple & compound), centrifuges, incubators, dissecting kits, glassware (beakers, test tubes), balances, pH meters, and blood testing kits.
  • Models & Visual Aids: Human skeletons, organ models (heart, brain), charts, diagrams, and educational videos to visualize complex concepts.
  • Specimens: Preserved plant and animal specimens, slides (cells, tissues, blood) for microscopic study, seeds, leaves, and flowers.
  • Consumables: Chemicals, reagents, filter paper, twine, and materials for experiments like chromatography.
  • Infrastructure: Well-lit, spacious rooms (min 600 sq ft recommended), demonstration tables with sinks, storage cupboards, intelligent boards/whiteboards, and safety features (fire extinguishers, first aid).

Activities & Learning Areas:

  • Microscopy: Studying cell structure, tissues, bacteria, and microorganisms.
  • Physiology: Experiments on respiration, enzyme kinetics, and human anatomy.
  • Genetics: Exploring heredity principles.
  • Ecology/Botany: Observing plant structures, biodiversity.
  • Molecular Biology: Sterile culturing, basic molecular techniques.
